Is modern technology the answer? [Substation technology]

This presentation discusses: benefits and limitations of technologies in the modern substation from a user perspective; and great benefits or constants? - it's dependent on how it is implemented and communicated. There are many systems and technologies offering the answer to utilities and industry's challenges, but which one is the right one? The status quo may not be an option, because, regardless of the requirements or specification of the customer, technology is becoming the default option in delivering the customer's requirements. As with our daily lives like cars and phones, what was an expensive option is now standard. Drivers and business models could change the way we select and use the technology to meet our individual requirements.
